Study reveals 1 in 5 women who needed fertility treatment have natural subsequent conception

A groundbreaking study from UCL reveals that approximately 20% of women who needed fertility treatment, such as IVF, to conceive their first child have a good chance of getting pregnant naturally in the future. The research, based on data from over 5,000 women across 11 studies, challenges the belief that natural conception after fertility treatment is rare. The findings underscore the importance of informing women about the possibility of natural pregnancy post-treatment to enable better family planning. The researchers urge the use of linked national data sets to gather more accurate information and guide individuals considering their options after successful fertility treatment.
