A new study has found that the most prominent symptoms of cardiac arrest can vary between men and women. For women, shortness of breath is the most common symptom, while chest pain is the most common symptom for men. This is important to know because it can help people seek help sooner if they are experiencing these symptoms. Women who experience unexpected shortness of breath have a 3-fold higher risk of an imminent cardiac arrest, while men who experience unexpected chest pain have a 2-fold increased risk.
