New study has found that a minimally invasive technique for lateral maxillary sinus floor elevation (lSFE) is a viable treatment option. The study found that the technique successfully achieved bone augmentation and implant survival with a low complication rate. The new technique uses a smaller bone window and allows for implants to be placed simultaneously with the sinus floor elevation (one-stage surgery). This is in contrast to the traditional two-stage surgery, which requires a separate surgery to place the implants after the sinus floor has healed.
