Grow= (1) develop or increase in size by natural process (of children, animals, plants etc.): ‘Mary’s little boy grew four centimeters last year.’ ‘Orchids don’t grow in cold climates.’ (2) cause to grow or develop plants, vegetables etc. by taking care of them: ‘We grow onions, potatoes and carrots in our backyard.’ (3) increase (in number, volume, cost etc.): ‘The population is expected to grow by 20% over the next five years.’
