(1) Attribute an accusation or responsibility for some lapse or misdeed; Blame sb (for sth); Blame sth on sb/sth: ‘The police laid blame on the driver for the accident.’ ‘We blamed the accident on her.’ ‘Nobody can blame you for telling the truth.’ ‘Whenever children behave badly, people blame their parents.’  (2) A reproach for some lapse or misdeed: ‘I took the blame for this accident.’
